Especially passion was the key ingredient to create a super flexible, user-friendly Wordpress theme. The fun thing is that it isn’t even finished, because it should be the best hotel theme out there and that’s why it’s getting updated all the time.

Visual Composer
Visual Composer is the content management tool that let’s you create pages/layouts without having any knowledge of HTML or other coding languages. It’s highly recommended to use, because the shortcodes (like reservation form, parallax image etc.) of Starhotel are mapped into Visual Composer.

Tip: To create full width elements, click the “edit this row” pencil of a row and select from “row stretch” > “Stretch row and content without spaces”and click “Save changes”.
Revolution Slider
Revolution Slider is pretty straight forward. To learn more about the Revolution Slider go to: http://revolution.themepunch.com/documentation/

<p><label><span class="required">*</span> Your Name</label><br />

-
Click “Save” and create a new page or edit an existing one
-

WPML (not included)
Starhotel supports the popular page/post translation plugin WPML that you can use to translate all pages individually. It’s not allowed for resell, so you’ll have to purchase it if you want to use it at: https://wpml.org/
If you have it installed and want to use it you’ll have to set it up in the “Theme Options” > Enable “Top Header: WPML Language”.
Starhotel is translate ready, meaning you can use a translation application to change text strings. Here you can find out how:
-
Login to your FTP where Starhotel is installed
-
Go to 'starhotel/languages/'
-
Copy the ‘default.po’ file to your desktop
-
Open the ‘default.po' file with Poedit which you can download (if you don’t have it yet) for free at: https://poedit.net
-
When opened you’ll see a list with all various text strings which you can translate in Starhotel
-
Next click strings you want to translate (take note that some of them are only for CMS and some of the text strings are for the front-end, so you don’t have to translate them all)
-
Fill in your translation and please make sure you do it in the ‘translation' box.
-
The translation will show up on the overview as well (Translation - Language)
-
Once you’re done translating your strings, you’ll have to save the file. You need to save the file in a specific way to make sure Wordpress will pick up the translation file later on. To define the correct filename we use a language code + a country code. - First you need to find your language code at: https://www.gnu.org/software/gettext/manual/html_node/Usual-Language-Codes.html - Next find your country code at https://www.gnu.org/software/gettext/manual/html_node/Country-Codes.html - Combine these two codes and save it as a PO file (Example nl_NL.po for Dutch or en_EN for English).
-
Finally upload this file back into the language folder by FTP: 'starhotel/languages/'
-
Now you still have to activate your language. Go to Wordpress Dashboard > Settings - General > Select the Site Language of the file that you’ve just uploaded to your server and hit ’Save Changes’.
Tip: Use shortcut ctrl+f (Windows) or cmd+f (Mac) to search and find strings.
Please take not that some string might be double in the translation file and all need to be translated.
Update the translation file
Whenever Starhotel has had an update, it could come along that new strings have been added and that you’ll have to update your PO file to translate these strings.
You can do this as follow:
-
Login into your FTP where Starhotel is installed
-
Go to 'starhotel/languages/'
-
Copy the new ‘default.pot’ and your own translation file(s) to your desktop
-
Open it with PoEdit which you can download for free at:https://poedit.net
-
Go to ‘Catalog > Update from pot file’
-
Select the newest ‘default.pot’ that came along together with the update.
-
Save your file and upload this file back into the language folder by FTP: 'starhotel/languages/‘.
Tip: Please take note that it’s always a good plan to backup the PO file before updating it.
