Configuring WPML

WPML consists of several modules. The basic module turns WordPress sites multilingual. Other modules help with an enhanced translation process, string translation, media translation and other functions.

You can learn about the different modules in the WPML Core and Addons page.

After you enable WPML, you’ll see a Multilingual Widget in the Admin Dashboard. This widget provides access to the different functions in WPML. You can also access them through the WPML menu.

  • Languages – Determine the site’s languages and control how different language contents are organized.
  • Theme and plugins localization – Choose between the traditional .mo files or using WPML’s String Translation.
  • Navigation – Control the appearance of site-wide navigation based on WordPress pages.
  • Sticky links – This is an essential function for running full websites with WordPress. It guarantees that links between pages can never break.

Translating Site Content

WPML creates different posts, pages and custom types for translations and connects them together. This means that every page has its own title, body and meta-fields.

WPML offers two ways for translating content:

  • Manually, by clicking on the + icons
  • Using WPML’s Translation Management module

Translation Dashboard

Learn how to translate posts, pages and custom data types in - translating your content. You can also translate post categories and custom taxonomies.

Most WordPress sites contain texts outside of posts. WPML translates these texts using the String Translation module.

To display image galleries in translated content, you should use WPML Media. It will allow you to connect the same media files to content in different languages.

Advanced Translation

Once you’ve translated the site’s content and general strings, you might be interested in translating the site’s navigation and using localized permalinks.

How to Update Theme:
- top

You can update theme by 2 ways:

1. Upload theme folder via ftp to your site

2. Use Envato WordPress Toolkit plugin ( you can see below introduction )

Note : After you have finished Update Theme WordPress, you need to go to Appearance -> Theme Options and Save All Options again (if your theme have “Generate Less To Css” button beside “Save All Options” button, you also need click that button)

Envato WordPress Toolkit

Unlike most other free WordPress plugins, the toolkit isn’t available in the WordPress Plugin Repository. You’ll need to go to GitHub to download the plugin. Link to download here: https://github.com/envato/envato-wordpress-toolkit

After you’ve downloaded the plugin (by clicking the “Download ZIP” click on the right-hand side of the page), there are a few steps to go through to get the plugin up and running.

API KEY

You will need to generate an API key to link your WordPress site to your Themeforest account. Login to Themeforest, go to your dashboard and click on “My Settings.” The API Keys screen allows you to generate a free API key.

2. Install Envato WordPress Toolkit Plugin

Install and activate the toolkit plugin. A new menu item, “Envato Toolkit,” will appear in the admin sidebar. Click on the sidebar link and enter your marketplace username and secret API key. Click “Save Settings.” All of your theme purchases will now appear on this page after it refreshes.

3. Theme Updates

The plugin will now alert you to theme updates – so long as you check the toolkit settings regularly. Click on “install automatically” beside each of your themes to automatically Update Theme WordPress. The toolkit settings page also allows you to install themes that you haven’t already uploaded to your site, delete ones you don’t use and view version details. You can also set up theme backups. It’s a fairly simple plugin, but also a helpful one.
